Do the entry and exit days count toward my 90 days?
Yes. Under the Schengen 90/180 rule, both the day you enter and the day you leave count as full days of stay — even if you arrive late at night or leave early in the morning.
Every calendar day of presence counts once
The rule counts days, not hours. Any calendar day on which you are present in the Schengen Area — including arrival and departure days — counts as one day. A single-day visit still uses one of your 90 days.
A worked example
Arrive on 1 June and leave on 10 June: that is 10 days of stay (1–10 June inclusive), not 9. Forgetting to count both ends is a frequent reason people think they have more days than they really do.
Why it matters near the limit
Off-by-one errors on entry/exit days are the classic cause of accidental overstays. If you are close to 90, count inclusively and double-check with a calculator that applies the same rule the border uses.
Frequently asked questions
If I arrive at 11 pm, does that day count?
Yes. Time of day is irrelevant — the whole calendar day counts as one day of presence.
Does a same-day in-and-out trip use a day?
Yes. Even entering and leaving on the same day uses one of your 90 days.
So a 1–10 June trip is how many days?
Ten days, counting both 1 June and 10 June.
